My Summer With EICOP

Meet Eliana Dean

LANA is a 21-year-old Guyanese American creative with a growing background in filmmaking, marketing, and live event production. Her skill set is both diverse and expanding. Originally from Memphis, her work is often inspired by the richness of the Black Southern experience. Now in her final year of university, she remains actively involved on campus, serving as the director of OU On The Yard and as the Special Events Coordinator for the university’s student government.

EICOP Expectations

Coming off a spring internship where I served as a marketing intern, I was excited to continue developing the skills I had gained. I was particularly looking forward to capturing live coverage of events and mixers, as well as creating content for social media. Most of all, I was excited to begin working with Lens On!

My goal for this internship was to walk away with new skills, meaningful connections, and strong mentorship. The team at EICOP delivered exactly that. From Holly to Mickayla, I received thoughtful advice and guidance that not only improved my work but also gave me valuable insight into my career path and how to navigate it.

My Results

Lens On

Working with LensOn was incredible. I was blessed to hear from industry professionals, many of whom were in a position I hope to also one day be in. The information and feedback they shared were insightful, and I was able to identify how it would be applicable in my life.
During my time there, I captured content from their time on set and time in meetings.

Social Content

Capturing social content for the summer was a great experience! While I’ve captured content for events and companies before, this was my first time capturing content of myself for the page. It was new and slightly intimidating, but I was excited to showcase the opportunities that EICOP had provided.

 

My Short Film

With a passion for both marketing and filmmaking, I set out to make the most of my summer by strengthening my skills in each area. Surrounded by talented students, that’s when this trailer came to life.

I wanted to capture the everyday experience of being a student in this program, from lively game nights and daily commutes to work, to those late night hangouts. EICOP offers us more than just internships; it gives us a sense of community, connection, and lifelong friendships.

As I come to the end of my internship, I can’t express my gratitude enough. I’ve learned so much over the summer. From the speaker series to the mixers, there were opportunities every week for me to step outside my comfort zone and grow.

This isn’t an opportunity I take lightly. As I return to school, I plan to make myself a resource for other students as someone they can turn to to learn more about the program and the opportunities available to them.
