For Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating leaders who are shaping the future of storytelling.
Meet Ayo Davis, President of Disney Branded Television and a proud alumna of Dillard University. With more than 20 years at Disney, Ayo has built a career championing new voices, developing talent, and leading the creation of stories that reach kids and families around the world.
From overseeing casting at ABC and Disney+ to now leading the teams behind major Disney Channel and Disney+ franchises, her work continues to shape the next generation of entertainment.
Ayo often credits her HBCU experience at Dillard for instilling the values of community, accountability, and leadership that guide her today. Those lessons continue to influence how she builds teams, mentors talent, and creates space for the next generation of storytellers to thrive.
This Women’s History Month, we celebrate leaders like Ayo Davis who remind us that representation in leadership matters and that the stories shaping culture are strongest when diverse voices are at the table.

Getting ready to make history.
In 2023, Halle Bailey became the first Black woman to portray Ariel in Disney’s live-action The Little Mermaid. A character generations grew up watching. A role that had never looked like her before.
Singer.
Actress.
Grammy-nominated artist.
Disney leading lady.
From performing as half of the Grammy-nominated duo Chloe x Halle to stepping into one of the most iconic roles in film history, Halle Bailey showed what happens when talent meets courage and opportunity.
Her performance as Ariel was more than a casting moment. It was a cultural moment. One that expanded representation for the next generation watching the screen.
This is what getting ready to make history looks like. Talent meeting preparation. Visibility creating possibility. A new generation seeing themselves in places they once only imagined.
This is the HBCU Futures mindset in action. We believe preparation, access, and cultural awareness position the next generation to lead industries, not just enter them. When our students step into these spaces, they do not just participate in culture. They help shape it.

Before the records, before the rings, before redefining an entire era of basketball, Stephen Curry was already showing what it looks like to think differently about legacy.
Widely regarded as the greatest shooter of all time, Curry has transformed the game from the logo to the blueprint. A four-time NBA champion, two-time MVP, Finals MVP, and the only unanimous MVP in league history, his influence sparked a global shift in how basketball is played, taught, and imagined. The “Steph Effect” didn’t just stretch the floor, it expanded what was possible.
In 2024, Curry added another defining chapter on the world stage. Making his Olympic debut in Paris, he delivered one of the most iconic performances in U.S. basketball history, setting Olympic three-point records, leading a historic comeback, and sealing gold with a moment now etched into the sport’s legacy.
But at EICOP, we know history isn’t only made in arenas. It’s built through access, education, and intentional investment. Curry’s commitment to equity and opportunity is evident in his work with Howard University, where he helped launch and fully fund Division I men’s and women’s golf programs — expanding pathways at an HBCU and proving that legacy includes who you bring forward with you.
This is what setting up to make history looks like. Excellence paired with purpose. Influence paired with responsibility. Leaders who understand that the future of culture, business, and innovation is shaped by the opportunities we create today.
We see that same future being built every day in classrooms, programs, and partnerships that prepare students to lead at the highest levels.
When we say Support HBCU Futures, we mean investing in the pipeline of talent that will define what’s next.
Because history isn’t just remembered.
It’s being set up right now.
