From the yard to a full-time offer, Ssuuna McKitty is that guy. 🎬✨
EICOP alum and Morehouse College graduate Ssuuna McKitty just landed a full-time role at Sony Pictures, and we could not be more proud.
A Business Marketing major from Chicago, Illinois, Ssuuna came into EICOP with a vision and left with a career. During his time at Morehouse, he interned at Lionsgate (creative development and marketing), Paramount (marketing and distribution), and Warner Brothers (creative development), all before graduation.
He also screened two of his own films at EICOP showcases, because yes, he is also a director and writer.
What makes Ssuuna special isn’t just the resume. It’s the mindset. He calls himself the Black Panther: part business, part creative, fully himself.
His name, Ssuuna, comes from a king in Buganda, and he carries that energy into every room he walks into.
This is what HBCU Futures looks like in action.
When students get access to the right rooms, the right mentors, and the right opportunities, they don’t just enter the industry. They shape it. From applying as a freshman and refusing to take no for an answer, to signing a full-time offer at one of the biggest studios in the world, this story is proof that preparation, persistence, and program support change lives.
Congratulations, Ssuuna. The industry is ready for you.

We pulled up to Walt Disney Studios in Burbank for something special.
EICOP President and CEO Stacy Millner joined Coppin State University, Walt Disney Studios, and a room full of industry leaders for a roundtable conversation about what it really takes to bridge the gap between HBCUs and the West Coast workforce ecosystem.
From recruitment and admissions to workforce development and sustainable partnerships, the conversation was real, intentional, and necessary.
When East Coast institutions and West Coast industries come together with students at the center, that is where the pipeline gets built. That is where futures get shaped.
To every HBCU student watching: the seats at these tables exist for you. We are here making sure you know how to get to them.
The work continues.

Celebrating the power of HBCU Futures in action ✨
